LOS ANGELES (AP) -- It wasn't surgery -- or some newfangled diet. Renee Zellweger says the reason she looks so different these days -- is because she's happier. Zellweger has given a statement to People magazine to address the buzz online about how her current looks. Some fans say she's become "unrecognizable" after seeing photos of the 45-year-old actress at a Hollywood event this week. She's thinner and her cheeks look less rounded and more angular now. But Zellweger says any physical changes people see are because she is -- quoting here -- "living a different, happy, more fulfilling life." She says she has focused on her own health in recent years and is "thrilled that perhaps it shows." Zellweger's most recent acting credit was in 2010.
AP Entertainment Editor Oscar Wells Gabriel reports Renee Zellweger is out with a statement explaining the new thinner her.
NEW YORK (AP) -- NBC is out with a statement about the fate of its medical correspondent Dr. Nancy Snyderman. The head of the news division says Snyderman has been encouraged to take time off from work -- and that she won't return until next month. Deborah Turness didn't say whether Snyderman would return to covering Ebola for the network. Some critics have called for NBC to fire Snyderman because she and her crew violated a voluntary quarantine after returning to the U.S.
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- The American video journalist who recovered from Ebola here in the U.S has left the a hospital in Nebraska for his home state, Rhode Island. Hospital officials say Ashoka Mukpo's blood now tests negative for the Ebola virus. In a statement he says he appreciates being alive -- even as he's aware that people in Liberia who catch Ebola often "die alone with minimal care." Mukpo caught the virus in Liberia, where he was working for NBC News.
REAL HOUSEWIVES N.J.-SENTENCE
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -- None of that halfway house stuff for a cast member of the reality show "Real Housewives of New Jersey." A federal judge in Newark has rejected a request by Teresa Giudice to serve most of her sentence in a halfway house. Prosecutors opposed the request -- and the judge agrees. In her ruling, the judge says any request for slack in the way the sentence is served should have been made at the sentencing hearing. But, the judge says, even if that had happened, she would have rejected the bid. Teresa and Joe Giudice pleaded guilty in March to fraud charges and filing phony loan applications. Joe will serve 41 months.
NEW YORK (AP) -- William Shatner has never been the shy and retiring type. So it should be no surprise that he isn't shy about saying he doesn't plan to retire anytime soon. The man who played the original Captain Kirk on "Star Trek" says when people think of retirement they consider leaving one thing to do something else they find exciting. He says with all the different things going on in his life, people wish they could be him. One of the things he may be doing soon: a part in a new Star Trek movie.
William Shatner says he thinks all the work in redoing his house was worth it.

UNDATED (AP) -- When Ray Rice appeals his ban by the NFL, the league's commissioner may have to appear. A person familiar with the case tells The Associated Press that Roger Goodell (guh-DEHL') has been told to appear by the neutral arbiter picked to hear the appeal. Since it's an arbitration hearing and not a criminal case, it's unclear whether Goodell will actually testify about what Rice told him about the incident in which he punched his finance out cold in a casino elevator. Rice has been indefinitely suspended by the league -- and was fired by the Baltimore Ravens.
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Police in Las Vegas are looking into a complaint that basketball star Blake Griffin attacked a man over a photo taken at a nightclub. Authorities say the battery complaint was filed Sunday -- and stems from an altercation involving Griffin and a camera. No immediate arrest was made -- and police say the investigation remains open. Griffin plays for the Los Angeles Clippers, who were in Vegas to play an exhibition game against the Denver Nuggets. The NBA team says it's aware of the complaint -- but has no immediate comment.
