"DOWNTON ABBEY" - SIX AND OUT

NEW YORK (AP) -- It's a slow fade to black for "Downton Abbey." The show's producers say they will pull the plug on the show -- which is wildly popular both here and in the U.K. -- after its sixth season, which is now in production. Because the show runs in "the colonies" after it airs in Britain, the final season here won't be seen until next year. In the U.K., the final show will air on Christmas Day. Executive producer Gareth Neame says while he believes the show "is in incredibly strong shape," he wants to see it go out on top. He says the danger with a hit show is "to let it go on forever." And apparently goodbye will mean goodbye for "Downton Abbey." Neame says there are no plans for a movie or based on the show -- or for a spinoff TV series.

AP Entertainment Editor Oscar Wells Gabriel reports that it looks like once Downton Abbey is gone, it will be gone forever.

DOWNTON ABBEY - WHO SURVIVES?

NEW YORK (AP) -- When "Downton Abbey" dies -- who ends up dying off with it? It's anybody's guess. Producers say they already have ideas about the fate of various characters as the final season continues production. But producers also haven't been shy about offing a character or two along the way. Among those bumped off during the show's run so far: Kemal Pamuk in season 1; Lady Sybil -- who died giving birth in Season 3 -- and Matthew Crawley, played by Dan Stevens. He also died in season 3 -- perishing in a car wreck just after his son was born.

"FIFTY SHADES" - DIRECTOR

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The director of the movie "Fifty Shades of Grey" is calling "cut." Sam Taylor-Johnson won't be back for any of the sequels. In a statement, she says doing "Grey" was an "intense and incredible journey" and that she's "hugely grateful" for the opportunity. But she's also confirming insider talk that she won't return for any re-do's. The movie based on E L James' erotic novel has grossed $558 million worldwide so far in its theatrical run. So far, it appears Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan will be back for sequels -- though a reboot for the movie hasn't officially been announced.

MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY - FEE

HOUSTON (AP) -- So, how much will Matthew McConaughey get for speaking at the graduation ceremony at the University of Houston? We may never know. A celebrity booking agency has told the Texas attorney general's office it shouldn't have to reveal how much the actor will be getting. The university is also declining to say -- because it says it signed a confidentiality deal with the talent agency that booked McConaughey. His agency's Web site says the minimum fee to book the actor in the U.S. ranges from $150,000 to $499,000.

ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER - NEW "TERMINATOR"

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- He vowed he'd be back -- and he is. Arnold Schwarzenegger is taking another shot at the "Terminator" movie franchise. The new version will be called "Terminator: Genisys" -- and Paramount has served up a few minutes worth of an "appetizer" for the main course, which is due in theaters July 1. So far, the Terminator series has pulled in more than $1 billion in box office receipts.

"THE WIRE" - PRESIDENT OBAMA

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama is down with "The Wire." Not only does he say he's a big fan of the HBO series -- but he also says he thinks the show is one of the greatest pieces of art in the past couple of decades. Obama has met with David Simon -- who created the series -- at the White House. The two chatted for 12 minutes about how to reduce the number of people jailed for nonviolent drug offenses. They also discussed how to make cites safer. The video was shown yesterday at the Bipartisan Criminal Justice Summit in Washington.

JULIE ANDREWS - MARIA THE PUPPET?

NEW YORK (AP) -- Her take on Maria in "The Sound of Music" is considered by many fans to be the ultimate version of the character. But Julie Andrews says she has no problem with actors trying to interpret the role differently. She says she wouldn't even mind if someone tried it with puppets. She says since the role is a classic, it can be interpreted any way an actress wants. As for those who don't want to see anyone else play Maria, Andrews says while that's "very flattering" -- there are many who have played the role and brought great pleasure to audiences in the 50 years since "The Sound of Music" hit theaters.

Julie Andrews says he doesn't pay much attention to fans who insist her take on Maria is the ultimate version.

Julie Andrews says she may get back into musicals -- as a writer in books she and her daughter have written.

JAMES BOND - MEXICO CITY

MEXICO CITY (AP) -- Usually having a movie shot in a particular town is good for business. But not so in Mexico City, where the upcoming James Bond movie, "Spectre," is being filmed. Business owners in the historic downtown district report a 60-percent drop in sales in the first week of filming alone. Officials have closed some streets in the area until April 1. And while a group representing small businesses say owners appreciate the publicity from the Bond film, the street closings are scaring away customers and keeping workers from getting to their jobs. They say the city should pitch in to help make up for the losses.

JASON ALEXANDER - BROADWAY

NEW YORK (AP) -- Jason Alexander will be pinch-hitting for an old "Seinfeld" pal. He'll take over for Larry David in the starring role in the Broadway play, "Fish in the Dark." Alexander will play Norman Drexel in the production, which was written by David and is at the Cort Theater. Alexander took a break from a successful theater career to play George Constanza in "Seinfeld" -- also written by David.
