Christan Taylor - A Beacon of Friendship
True friends are like beacons of light that help us get through life's darkest days.
On this week's 'Pay it Forward' we find two women who prove the enduring strength of a forever friendship.
Nominator Jackie McCrary meets us at Charleston Park where she tells us all about her dearest friend, Christin Taylor.
Jackie says, "She's remarkable. I can't say enough about her because there's no words to really express how much I've appreciated everything she's done for me."
It's a friendship that has grown even stronger with the recent death of Jackie's husband, and that heartbreaking moment she needed someone the most.
Jackie chokes back tears as she says, "When it came time for him to pass away I could not stay in that room and watch him take his last breath, but her and my sister were strong enough to stay there... It's the hardest thing on Earth to sit there and watch a loved one die and she was strong enough to do it for my husband."
I ask Jackie how she's managed to pull off our big 'Pay it Forward' surprise.
"I called her on the way over here and I told her, I said, 'look, I'm really sorry I'm running late'. She was just like, okay, your food will be waiting here for you when you get here because she bought breakfast this morning for everybody."
It's time to make our way to Christin's shop.
Jackie shouts as she opens the door to the busy salon, "I finally made it!"
A very surprised Christan walks over and Jackie says, "On behalf of McMahan Law Firm and NewsChannel 9 I'm here to 'Pay it Forward' to you for everything you've done for me."
The friends hug and Jackie tearfully thanks her, "I cannot tell you how much I appreciate everything you've done for me, my husband and my family."
Christan tells me she never thought twice about helping a heartbroken friend.
"I thought the world of her husband, the whole family," Christan says.
I say to Christan, "She (Jackie) truly appreciates you. That's for sure."
Without hesitation Christan hugs her friend again, smiles and says, "I appreciate her, too."
