The Price Of Freedom: Fleischmann Works To Help Veterans

In December, Congress passed a budget plan to avoid another government shutdown.  Part of that government spending plan was a cut of the cost of living increases for military retirees.  Representative Chuck Fleischman is working to restore that full increase for those veterans.

The Omnibus spending bill that was passed earlier this month restored the increase for disabled retirees.  However, the cost of living cut for many other military retirees still stands.

Congressman Chuck Fleischmann voted for that budget, but says he did not support the cost of living cut.  He is the co-sponsor of new legislation that restores that cost of living increase to all veterans who’s pay increases were reduced.

"In the Omnibus bill that we just passed we removed the Cost of Living reduction on disabled vets,” Representative Fleischmann told us.  “I have worked very hard to co-sponsor this legislation and will continue to work hard every day for the men and women who have served our country in uniform."
