Early Morning Fire In East Ridge

Firefighters in East Ridge battled an early morning blaze at a home on Gleason Drive.

East Ridge Fire and Police tell us it happened around 2:30 this morning.

A department spokesperson says dispatchers received a call from a passing motorist. Once crews arrived, they saw heavy smoke and fire coming from the windows on all side of the home.

Firefighters in East Ridge also called in for help from the Fort Oglethorpe Fire Department, and with their help, were able get the fire under control within 30 minutes.

East Ridge Fire and Police say the house was not occupied at the time. A preliminary investigation doesn't suggest foul play, but fire and arson investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
