Fire Displaces Family on Wheeler Ave

News Release

The Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 1507 Wheeler Ave around 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 11. Upon arrival Captain Carlos Hampton of Engine 4 was told by a citizen that there was possibly a person trapped in the basement apartment area of the home.

The crew of Engine 4 quickly conducted a search of the area, but no one was found, and it was later reported that all persons living in the home were out and accounted for.

The fire apparently began in the basement area of the home and moved through the walls into the attic. The cause of the blaze is undetermined at this time. Estimated damages $80,000.

It is unclear if the owner, Azilee Goodwin, has insurance on the property. Red Cross was called out to assist.
