Low Gas Prices Raise Consumer's Hopes
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The price of oil is going down causing gas prices to get lower and consumers' hopes to get higher. People in Chattanooga are revved up about gas prices finally going down instead of up.
Sam Harris is excited to see some changes and says "I was pleasantly surprised and actually turned because we were going to buy gas down the road in Georgia but I will take $3.24 any day."
Harvey Weiss says he has been tired of the high gas prices and argues that $3.24 is still too high," If you are passing by and its inexpensive you should stop in and get it like I did."
While BP had the lowest on Sunday with a price of $3.24, stations on Amnicola have very different gas prices from what they were several weeks ago. Before the drop, gas was well over $4.00 per gallon, changing the way people live and they way they drive.
"I can remember paying 50 cents for a gallon I remember thinking my science teacher was crazy telling us what we would be paying...now I would be happy paying 2.50 a gallon, says Vikki Willis.
Many people Newschannel9 talked to say there's no point in searching for cheap gas, but if they happen upon a pretty price at the pump, they will promptly pull over.
"Well we were on our way to Ooltewah and I saw this price and we pulled in cuz I said we are gon get some of this gas," says Darrell Blevins.
One gas station clerk I spoke to says just today he changed the price of gas three times, bringing up the question of how long these pumps will be less painful.
"It may come down a little bit more before a holiday like Labor Day I dunno I am just thankful we get it for what we get it and its available," says Harris.
