Puppy Stolen at Gunpoint
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Chattanooga police are looking for a gun-wielding puppy thief. Gordon Goldsmith says he was in a gas station parking lot on Tunnel Boulevard, when he was robbed at gunpoint for his pitbull puppy.
Goldsmith says he spent the day Sunday at the flea market where he sells pit bull puppies for 800 dollars apiece. In the middle of the afternoon, he stopped at a gas station and came face to face with a gun.
He and his girlfriend went into the store to get a cup of coffee, leaving his puppies in the back of his van, which had written on the side of it, "pitbulls for sale." Goldsmith says he was approached by two men, who claimed they wanted to see the dogs. As he was going to the back of the van, Goldsmith says one of the men told him, "I'm taking your dog" and grabbed one of the puppies.
Goldsmith says he tried to go after him but stopped when the man showed a gun.
"It ticked me off pretty bad, and then when he raised his shirt up and he had a gun, I knew then that there wasn't anything I could do about it, and that made me even madder," says Goldsmith.
He watched as the men got in a car and drove off. But Goldsmith did something that could help police catch the crooks: He got the license plate number.
Chattanooga police are looking for a light blue Cutlass Ciera with the Tenessee license plate.. 499-MYV.
Police say they have a good idea of who stole the puppies and they're working leads right now. A spokesperson for the police department says the thief could face felony charges of armed robbery.
