Nursing Home LPN Arrested
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has arrested a licensed practical nurse after a four-month long investigation into his conduct toward patients while he was employed at the Wexford House Nursing Home in Kingsport, Tenn.
Andrew Douglas Griffith, 26, 212 Chimney Rock Drive, Waxahachie, TX, was indicted by the Sullivan County Grand Jury on one count of abuse neglect or exploitation of a dependent adult, two counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud deceit or theft and two counts of theft of property under $500. According to the TBI, while working at Wexford House Nursing Home, Griffith stole medications that were prescribed and intended for residents of the facility.
The indictment against Griffith was handed down on August 31, 2010. He was arrested by TBI’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit on September 5, 2010 and booked into the Sullivan County Jail on a $50,000 bond. His initial court appearance is currently set for September 24, 2010 at 9:00 AM.
