Grundy Murder Still Unsolved
Comments 0 | Recommend 0June 28th 1996 is the day John T. Ervin was shot to death and still his killer has never been found.
As drivers pass between Coalmont and Tracy City they can't help but to see a sign bearing a picture of John T. Ervin that asks; Who Killed Me?
"I feel better when I pass the sign. I talk to John. See we are twins, that's why it hurt so bad," says Faye Johnson, Ervin's sister.
In June of 1996, Faye Johnson lost her other half when John Ervin was shot execution style.
Ervin's body was bleft in front of his home on this 45 acre hayfield; the property Johnson says caused the family dispute that could have led to his death.
"I tried my best to keep john safe and he wouldn't listen. He said he had worked hard all his life what he had was his and no one would take it away from him," says Johnson.
Therefore, Johnson says several years ago their family put up this billboard near where she believes the killer lives.
Since then, the sign has been vandalized twice, leaving it set on fire at one point.
However, Johnson says, the family continues to buy space because its causing people to come forward.
"The Sheriff every time we talk to him he says I am working on it everyday, talking to people, doing the best I can do," says Johnson.
At last check, the Grundy County Sheriff's Department had gotten enough leads to bring information to the District Attorney.
We contacted Sheriff Brent Myers for an update, but were told he was in meetings all day.
