House Passes Health Care Reform
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Late Saturday night, the Democratic-controlled House passed historic health care legislation to provide medical coverage to millions more Americans.
The vote was narrow: 220-215. Only one republican, Joseph Cao from Lousiana, voted for it; 39 Democrats voted against it.
Under the new plan, most Americans would be required to carry insurance and large employers would be obliged to cover their employees.
Saturday night Republican Representative Zach Wamp, who voted against the bill, released a statement. He says, "the bill will force states to add millions to their Medicaid rolls without the money to pay for it down the line."
Wamp also says, every day, he "hears from more Tennesseans who oppose this bill."
As more details become available about the new bill, we will bring them to you.
