A woman is hit and killed in Whitfield County while standing outside her car on the highway.

The Georgia State Patrol tells us the accident happened Saturday around 1030 PM.

Dispatchers say 27-year-old Courtney Adcock was attending to her broken down car near exit 326 on Interstate 75 when a tractor trailer hit her. Officials say the truck then overturned and blocked the interstate, causing it to be shutdown for hours.

GSP dispatchers say a team of investigators will recreate the accident. Investigators say alcohol could have been a factor. The investigation is on going.
