Lightning Strikes House

Severe weather danced all across skies in our viewing area and left its mark on several locations. Andrew Prokultvich ran down the street after he heard his sister's house had been struck. His sister was on vacation in Canada.  When Prokultvich rounded the corner, the house wasn't burned to the ground like he anticipated.

Firefighters from Tri-Community Fire Department say a lightning strike hit the back portion of the roof. A fire started inside the attic and raced down the roof line, according to Fire Marshal Amory Planchard.

NewsChannel 9 arrived and saw smoke pouring out of the back of the house. Planchard says insulation burned inside the attic, but fortunately no one was home at the time of the fire.

On NewsChannel 9 at 11, you'll see this video.
