Two Suspected Car Thieves Busted
Two men suspected of at least a dozen car thefts have been arrested in Chattanooga.
Investigators with the Chattanooga Police Department Auto Theft Division arrested the men Wednesday. According to investigators, Adrian Hester and Darlomon Lowery were stealing older model Chevrolets, Buicks and Oldsmobiles and selling them for scrap. Police spokesperson Sgt. Jerri Weary said a total of 12 stolen vehicles had been sold as scrap in the month of July alone. She said most of the vehicles were operable.
Investigators were alerted to the men during the investigation on the stolen cars after learning that a few stolen vehicles had been crushed and their parts sold as scrap to Bare Metals located at 2912 Market Street.
It was at Bare Metals that investigators were able to track down Lowery and Hester as they were attempting to sell more parts. Hester and Lowery have been charged with several counts of theft over $1000 in connection with the 12 auto thefts and more charges are possible. Investigators believe that the pair may be linked to similar thefts throughout Chattanooga and the surrounding areas. The investigation continues.
