Hamilton County Jailer Charged With Kidnapping and Assault

A Hamilton County jailer was arrested and booked into the Hamilton County jail today.

NewsChannel 9 has learned that jailer Robert Johnson is charged with assault, kidnapping and a domestic violence. The incident apparently involved Johnson's girlfriend at the Lake Shore on the Hill Apartments at 5873 Lake Resort Terrace around midnight Monday.

According to an affidavit, the victim, Crystal Zeppa, told police she and Johnson got in an argument. She said he grabbed her by the hair and struck her in the face with his fist.

She said she struggled with him and he put his hands around her neck and over her mouth. He then bit her on back of the thigh and the arm.

She stated that he pulled his gun from his holster, pointed it to her head and told her to "die."

Johnson has been booked and there is no word yet on possible bond or court dates.

Janice Atkinson with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Dept. says Johnson has been placed on Administrative Leave pending the outcome of the case.

Chattanooga police made the arrest.
