It's going to be a New Year's celebration like no other for Katherine Kirkpatrick and her family! The Pulaski resident, along with her husband Tom, son Ralph, daughter-in-law Diana and grandson Joshua, claimed her $1 million Powerball Power Play prize this morning at the Lottery's Nashville headquarters.
An avid Powerball player, Katherine says she always selects the Power Play option and always chooses the same numbers. "Several years ago Tom told me to pick my numbers and stick with them," said Katherine, "and boy did it pay off!"
Married for 49 years in February, Katherine and Tom, who celebrates his 74th birthday New Year's Day, still can't believe their good fortune. "I'm still in shock," said Katherine. "This money is going to give us some peace of mind in our retirement."
But Katherine wasn't the only Power Play winner. Murphy USA on West College St., the Pulaski retailer where Katherine purchased her ticket, will receive a $5,000 incentive for selling a winning Powerball Power Play ticket of $1 million.
