Keele Maynor Sentenced
Keele Maynor will serve 42 months in jail, and must pay back about 54 thousand dollars in restitution. That's according to Judge Poole, who sentenced her late Monday afternoon. Maynor pleaded guilty to nine counts of forgery and theft back in May.
For five years, Maynor told co-workers, friends, even family that she was terminally ill, fighting cancer. Maynor was actually never diagnosed with the disease. She took the stand during her sentencing and said she did it because she wanted to feel loved.
Co-workers with the City of Chattanooga donated many hours of vacation time, others organized charity events, and some even paid her rent and utility bills. Maynor shaved her head, created a blog, and took thousands of dollars in donations.
Monday, her family and supporters made emotional please to the judge that Maynor not be sentenced to serve time in jail. They said they're worried about her three children. But, Maynor ended up being sentenced to 3 years and 6 months, 10 years probation, and must pay back the money she scammed.
