Neighbor Finds Kidnapping Victim Cuffed and Naked

A man charged with kidnapped and assault is now behind bars and authorities say he may be responsible for many more crimes across the country.  We first told you about Thomas Taylor Tuesday night, when authorities say he was on the run after a woman said he'd bound her naked, and threatened to kill her.

Today, NewsChannel talked with the woman who called authorities and Sheriff Tim Gobble on the incident.

Maggie Dale says she got a knock on her door Monday afternoon, and when she opened it, she found a woman naked and handcuffed screaming for help.  The suspect has been arrested, but now authorities are trying to sort through his aliases to find out who he really is and what other crimes he's committed.

Maggie Dale is still shaken from the shocking visit she got Monday afternoon, from a woman she didn't know.  "She was just standing right here with the handcuffs on and everything, naked.  She pushed door open and come in and said call the law, call the law, he's after me, he's gonna kill me."

Dale says the woman was running from a man authorities say is Thomas Taylor.  Dale says he then he knocked on her door, but she wouldn't let him in, and he took off.

Sheriff Tim Gobble says the victim was actually picked up in Chattanooga on Sunday, then brought to Bradley County at knife point on the suspect's motorcycle to his home, and held hostage more than 24 hours.  Dale says the victim told her, "Said he had a cross blade knife holding it to her throat then he got a gun, and said what he was going to do to her, then he'd kill her."

Fortunately, the Sheriff's Office says she was able to escape when she asked for her shackles to be removed, and ran out the door, and up the street.  Sheriff Gobble says, "Had this victim not been able to escape we feel like she could have been harmed seriously or even killed."

Gobble says they finally caught Thomas Taylor at the Cascade's Motel in East Ridge early Wednesday morning.  We were there in court today when Taylor had his first appearance, but the Sheriff says this case got even worse when they realized Thomas had many different faces and names and may have committed serious crimes like this before.

His landlord Clyde Beck tells us he knew him as a different name, John Corner, and a different personality.  "He's a nice guy, always polite, nice as he could be, nothing bad about him."

But Dale says she saw firsthand what he did and is still scared about what he could have done.  "That's what I thought, thought he'd break the door in and come on in and no telling what he'd do."

Taylor is due back in court on April 2st on charges of especially aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault.  Authorities say he also went by John Corner and James McClinton.
