NC9 Investigation: What Led Up To Signal Mtn Shooting?

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

A father is in the hospital and a mother behind bars after a shooting at a Signal Mountain Chiropractor's Clinic.

Our investigation found out this couple divorced in February of 2005. A Hawkins County Court Clerk tells us that during the divorce a judge found the wife guilty of mental cruelty. That was three years ago, Friday police tell us she walked inside his office and shot her ex-husband.

EMS workers rushed to save Terrance Loher's life Friday morning. Police officers tell us around 9:30 a.m. Loher's ex-wife, Tina Marie Loher, showed up at his Signal Mountain Chiropractic practice.

"Witnesses reported that when she came to the clinic, came in, pulled a gun and during the course of the scuffle Dr. Loher was shot," Gino Bennett, with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department, says.

Loher was shot in the leg and his ex-wife sustained head injuries during their scuffle. A short time later Lifeforce air-lifted Loher to Erlanger.

So we wanted to find out what led up to this shooting. Our investigation found several court documents involving Terrance Loher as the Plaintiff and Tina Loher as the Defendant.

In September of 2005, Tina Loher filed a petition for an order of protection against Terrance's mother. In that petition she stated "he committed adultery and conveniently filed for divorce 6 months before graduation."

Fast forward to April of 2009 and you'll find this Knox County petition in which Terrance stated "he has been continuously been denied telephone contact with his children and now has not had co-parenting time in excess of one month."

We have also learned that the Lohers have a court date this upcoming Wednesday in regards to child support contempt.

Police tell us that Tina left their two daughter's in her silver S-U-V this morning before walking inside and shooting her ex-husband.

"We grabbed them and I brought them in here," Karen Chattin-Davis, Prudential's office coordinator, says.

Chattin-Davis helped take care of the girls while Police tried to figure out exactly what happened.

"The kids were basically left abandoned in the car while she went in to carry out this type of crime," Bennett says.

A crime that Chattin-Davis says the oldest daughter continued to ask about.

"If my mom has murdered my dad? Is she going to go to jail? Where is she going to go?," Chattin-Davis says.

We can now answer some of those questions - Terrance Loher is at Erlanger in critical condition. Tina Loher is in jail and facing serious charges. And we found out Friday night the girls are now with their grandparents on Signal Mountain.

Police tell us Tina Loher is now charged with attempted 1st Degree Murder and two counts of Reckless Endangerment because she left the girls alone in the car.
