In October, Mayor Littlefield announced that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and would be undergoing surgery. The diagnosis was made early and the prognosis is positive, according to the Mayor’s physician. The Mayor is expected to return to work after a recovery period.
“I am humbled by the outpouring of support and words of encouragement from everyone. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated. I am expecting a speedy recovery and am looking forward to returning to work as soon as possible.” said Mayor Littlefield. “I would also like to wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving and, as we count our many blessing, please remember those among us who are less fortunate.”
According to the American Cancer Society, Prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer found in American men, other than skin cancer. The American Cancer Society estimates that there will be about 218,890 new cases of prostate cancer in the United States in 2007. “It is very important for men to talk to their doctors about prostate cancer and to undergo test for early detection,” said Mayor Littlefield.
The Mayor and his family are very appreciative of the support and have requested no visitors at this time.
