How to Run For Public Office
A seminar designed to help individuals thinking about running for elected office or playing a leadership role in someone else’s campaign will be held February 13 at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Originally scheduled for January 30, How to Run for Public Office was postponed because of the weather.
The non-partisan seminar will include a panel discussion by General Sessions Judge Christie Mahn Sell, City Councilman Manuel Rico, Lookout Mountain Mayor Bill Lusk and Linda Bennett, executive director of Choose Chattanooga and former City Councilwoman. They will offer attendees the benefit of their experiences as candidates. Their discussion is titled, “If I knew then, what I know now.”
The seminar will also feature a presentation by David Eichenthal, president and CEO of the Ochs Center for Metropolitan Studies.
The seminar will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the UTC University Center Raccoon Mountain Room. The seminar is sponsored by the Urban League of Greater Chattanooga, Urban League Young Professionals, the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Chattanooga, the Leadership Chattanooga Alumni Association, STAND, CreateHere, and UTC.
“The How to Run for Public Office seminar was designed to support the emergence of a diverse group of new leaders who have the tools to effectively engage in the local election process,” said Warren Logan, president and CEO of the Urban League.
