Early Voting Headed Towards GA Record

    Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Voters in Georgia have been heading to the polls since September 22nd and many counties are seeing a steady flow of people to cast a ballot ahead of November's Presidential race.

Yesterday over 120 people showed up to early vote, which is the most so far during the early period for Walker County, according to Elections Administrator Barbara Berry.

She expects even more will take advantage of advance voting once the Walker County satellite locations open up on October 20th.

That includes the Chickamauga Civic Center, Lookout Mountain City Hall and the Rossville City Hall. These locations will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. until October 31st.

Berry encourages voters to go to the polls early if possible because Secretary of State Karen Handel estimates 80 percent of registered voters will turn out for the November election.  Polls will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. November 4th.

"We want to be a part of that percentage," Berry said.

A similar story is in Whitfield County.  One election official says they've had lines of people for both early voting and registration.

She says 260 voted early the first week beginning Sept. 22 and last week 762 people voted early.

Catoosa County reports 72 people registered on the last day Monday and almost 400 have registered to vote since the opening day.

Dade County early voting has seen 557 ballots have been cast so far

Murray county election officials report voting there has been steady for the last three weeks.

Early voting in Tennessee begins October 15th.
