Authorities in Rhea County are investigating an overnight shooting.

Sheriff Mike Neal tells us it happened around 12:30 this morning on Torbitt Rd. in Spring City. Deputies found Paul Bennett, 35, with a gunshot wound to the face.

Deputies went next to the home of Billy True. True told them he was awakened by the sound of his pick-up truck being started in his front yard. he said he yelled at the two men and fired several shots from a .22 caliber rifle, one round striking Bennett.

Bennett is in Erlanger Hospital in fair condition.
