11 Peanut Illness Cases in Tennessee

Two reported from Hamilton County

Associated Press

The Tennessee Department of Health has reported a total of 11 cases of peanut-related salmonella among Tennessee residents, including two in Hamilton County.

Health department spokeswoman Andrea Turner says all patients have fully recovered and no peanut-related deaths have been reported.

The Food and Drug Administration has linked the salmonella outbreak to a Georgia peanut processing plant.

The outbreak has resulted in more than 550 illnesses and at least eight deaths nationwide. It has prompted more than 1,100 international product recalls.

There were two cases in Hamilton County and one each from Sumner, Roane, Greene, Bedford, Washington, McMinn, Shelby, Knox and Claiborne counties.
