Problems Calling 9-1-1

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Some cell phone users are not getting through clearly to the 9-1-1 center in Whitfield County.

The sheriff's department says customers who use Verizon and Sprint phones to call 911 have bad static on the ends of their phones which is making it hard for dispatchers to figure out the emergency.

The Whitfield County Communications director says if you have one of these phones, you may be disconnected - but don't panic. The dispatcher will call you right back. Dispatchers say that usually takes care of the static problem.

Whitfield county has called Sprint and Verizon to make them aware of the problem.
