Fatal Plane Crash Investigation Continues
Federal authorities will investigate the fatal crash of a single-engine plane in a remote section of southwestern North Carolina.
Clay County Sheriff Joe Shook says officials from the Federal Aviation Administration arrived Monday and planned to put together a team to get to the site and retrieve the body. Also, officials from the National Transportation Safety Board planned to investigate the crash in the Nantahala National Forest.
Officials say the plane belonged to pilot Bill Allison of Helen, Ga., who built his own airport called Mountain Airpark in nearby Cleveland, Ga., and also was a flight instructor.
