KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A large inflatable pumpkin atop a Knoxville party store was intended to draw attention. It did.
Firefighters responded after heavy smoke was seen rising from the roof of Party City on Thursday night.
WVLT-TV reported Knoxville Fire Department spokesman D.J. Corcoran said the motor that blew air to keep the pumpkin inflated failed and the plastic pumpkin collapsed onto the hot electrical motor, causing the fire.
The fire was quickly extinguished without serious damage. Except to the pumpkin.
