Babysitter Classes
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Greater Chattanooga Area American Red Cross and Parkridge East Hospital announced today that they will be offering a Babysitter's Training class for young people ages 11 to 17 on Saturday, June 13. The pilot program is part of the Red Cross's effort to make their classes more readily available by offering instruction outside of the Chapter's office. The class will be held in the Rowe Conference Room at Parkridge East Hospital, 941 Spring Creek Road, Eastridge, TN.
"We are thrilled to be working with Parkridge East," said Tammy Thomas, Health + Safety program manager for the Greater Chattanooga Area American Red Cross. "They are providing meeting space free of charge and promoting the classes. The hospital staff will also be taking participants on a tour of the hospital's maternity ward."
Red Cross Babysitter's Training is a comprehensive program including instruction on breathing emergencies and first aid along with components in leadership and decision making. Participants who complete the class receive program materials and a complimentary first aid kit.
"It is so important for young people who are interested babysitting to get trained. Their willingness to take this training makes them better prepared to handle the challenges of care giving," noted Tammie Crowder, RN at Parkridge East Hospital. "As a mother, having a babysitter who has taken the Red Cross Babysitter's Training class puts me at ease. I have the confidence that our sitter has the skills to ensure that my children will be well cared for."
The Red Cross Babysitter's Training class runs from 8:30 AM to 4 PM on Saturday, June 13. Cost of the course is $50.
