Popular Eidson's Restaurant Closes Business

Friday is the last day East Ridge's Eidson's Restaurant served meals to their customers. After 56 years, the business has been closed. Owner Evelyn Eidson Seagle's parents opened the restaurant in 1954. She worked there since high school and took over the family business. Seagle says an offer was made to purchase the restaurant and she decided it was a good opportunity to relieve her of business duties to spend time with her family and travel. "But I will miss being busy everyday," Seagle says.

Customers say they'll miss the restaurant that's been a home away from home. David Pennebaker has been a customer at Eidson's Restaurant for over 15 years and has been going there 3 times a week. "They know what you're going to order before you order it. Which I guess, some people would call being stuck in a rut, but it's a comfortable rut!" Pennebaker says.

Another customer, Helen Solomon remembers the opening of the restaurant over half a century ago. She has frequented the place ever since and never thought the day would come where she'd have her last meal there. "It's a very big surprise. I thought it would last forever," Solomon explains.
