Teenager in Wreck After Shooting Update
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A fifteen year old boy is recovering in the hospital after being shot near a Chattanooga nightclub. On the way to the hospital the boy was in a car accident.
"I don't want people to think he was out doing this. No he was out giving somebody a boost when the shooting occured," says Christopher Hudgins, victim's father.
Christopher Hudgins says while his son was in this parking lot helping a cousin with car trouble someone shot him in the chest by mistake.
On Saturday night Hudgins says, he was Dj-ing a party here, inside Club Fathom.
While inside he says two groups of kids got into a fight.
His 15 year old son Desmond was on his way to the same club, but stopped.
However, Hudgins says by coincidence, the other group who'd been fighting ended up at the same place.
"Apparently this guy came around talking about what's popping and they were like what because they didn't know what was going on, then the shooting started," says Hudgins.
Just a few yards from Erlanger, the person driving Desmond Hudgins to the hospital got into a head on collision. But to save his life, the driver and Hudgins got into another car and kept going.
Today, Desmond Hudgins family waits at the hospital while he remains in critical condition. Chattanooga police are still investigating what happened.
In the meantime, Chris Hudgins says wants to violence to stop.
"I'm really hurt about it because that's my son up there, that's my only son and he is in a lot of pain," says Hudgins.
Christopher Hudgins says he expects his son Desmond will make a full recovery. As of Monday afternoon he couldn't speak, but is communicating by writing on paper.
