    Comments 0 | Recommend 0

The TWRA is pleased to announce that Hamilton County is providing shuttle buses from Birchwood School to Hiwassee Refuge and the Cherokee Memorial area Sunday, January 20, 2008. Thus, shuttle bus service will be available to the public on Saturday and Sunday, as previously planned.

Visit the Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge in Birchwood, TN for the 16th annual Cherokee-Crane Days Festival. The festival will feature Cherokee history and activities, and family-focused wildlife education at the Birchwood School and the adjacent Cherokee Removal Memorial. Birchwood School will also serve as a base to shuttle visitors to see the starts of the show: 20,000 migrating Sandhill and Whooping Cranes, Bald Eagles, Snow Geese, and dozens of other water fowl.

TWRA personnel will be available at the Birchwood School parking lot to answer questions and provide security during the loading and unloading process at the school on Saturday and Sunday, January 19 and 20.

Visitors should be aware that the school will be closed on Sunday, but the school parking lot will utilized for the shuttle activity.
