School Denies Fault for Student's Injury
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Attorneys for Richard Hardy Memorial School say their school was not at fault and did nothing wrong when a 14-year-old student broke his ankle on the playground in April 2007.
The student's father, Doug Gouger, has filed a complaint in Marion County and is suing the school for $300,000. In the court papers, he claims his son, Dexter, was playing on the playground in April when he fell from a piece of playground equipment and suffered a severely broken ankle. Gouger goes on to say the school was negligent in the supervision of his son, removed his son's shoe after the fall and made the injury worse.
Gouger also says the school forced his son to walk in the hurt ankle and did not tell parents or emergency personnel in time following the injury.
The school denies all of Gouger's statements regarding the injury in a court response. According to the Marion County Circuit Court Clerk, a hearing has not been set on the matter.
