Hundreds of security officers at the Y-12 nuclear weapons plant and other Oak Ridge facilities are voting on a new five-year contract.
The contract proposal does not have the full endorsement of the union leadership, but union officials say it's not a bad offer.
If members do not approve the contract, it's possible the Oak Ridge sites could have their first security guard strike since 1982.
Steven Wyatt of the National Nuclear Security Administration said security officers from other sites could be brought quickly to Oak Ridge.
