State House Resolution Honors Two Who Saved Man's Life
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Angela Sherlin and Bradley County Sheriff's Deputy Daniel Marlow say they wouldn't consider themselves heroes.
But today, they were honored with the Tennessee State House Joint Resolution...commending them for saving the life of Angela's father.
:If it wasn't for the Lord, and these two people," says Represenatative Eric Watson of Clevleand, "I'm sure Mr. Sherlin wouldn't be here today, and I just thank God that God gave you another day."
It was on April 18th that Angela's father Carl became trapped under a car -- and that's when she took action.
"My mind just went blank, I ran over and picked up the car you know, because it was laying...the tire was right here," says Angela, pointing to the neck.
Carl Sherlin's body lifeless, the first officer to respond to the scene was Deputy Daniel Marlow.
"I had been on scene on several accidents before but this was the first time I had a CPR there with a lifeless person," says Marlow.
Carl Sherlin was on life support for two days, according to his daughter.
And when he woke up, he says...he didn't remember much.
"I don't remember anything. I don't even remember getting under the car," says Carl Sherlin. "They called in Lifeforce. I don't even remember going to Chattanooga."
Carl says he's thankful to those that helped save his life.
Both Angela and Deputy Marlow say, they were just doing what they simply had to do.
"I was in the right place in the right time. There's a lot of deputies that would do the same thing," says Marlow.
"I don't think of myself as a hero--that was my dad, you know," says Angela. "I couldn't let him die."
