Signal Mountain Road Back Open

Comments 0

Tennessee Dept. of Transportation

Signal Mountain Rd. is back open both ways, according to Tennessee Dept. of Transportation spokesperson Jennifer Flynn.

The highway was shutdown to one lane (sometimes both ways) after a large portion of the roadway collapse and fell away during a heavy rain storm recently (see video).

Flynn said late Saturday, "Wright Brothers has completed emergency repair project on Signal Mountain. The contractor still has a couple of pieces of equipment to move. Traffic will run on a temporary surface until TDOT maintenance crews can put down a more permanent surface, currently scheduled to take place on Monday during non-peak hours, weather permitting. They won't start work until after 9:00 a.m. and it shouldn't take too long to finish."
