Smyrna High School on lockdown after kidnapping threat
Comments 0 | Recommend 0SMYRNA, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities say Smyrna High School was placed on lock down Monday after a threat was made on a student.
Smyrna police Sgt. Bobby Gibson says a man arguing with his wife kidnapped a case worker Monday morning from a domestic violence shelter in Murfreesboro at gunpoint.
He then drove her to Smyrna where he released her and threatened to kidnap his son, a student at the high school.
Gibson said police do not have the man in custody and he has not entered the school.
Authorities say the man kidnapped the worker because his family had apparently gone into hiding and he was trying to find them.
