Hixson Man Shot Twice In The Face

January 7, 2009 - 9:29 PM

A Hixson man clings to life tonight after police say his neighbor shot him in the face.

Neighbors tells us both of the men involved in this shooting have been fighting a lot recently. And we're told that an argument over money may have triggered this shooting.

Police respond to the 4700 Block of Forest Wood Lane. Witnesses tell us James Jordan shot his neighbor,

Kevin Carson, twice in the head and in both arms. That shooting happened just doors down from Chuck Howard's home.

"I heard the guy that did the shooting yelling at somebody and was chasing somebody and come to find out he had shot another friend on the street," Howard says.

Investigators quickly taped off the crime scene and combed the area for anything that may help shed light as to what led up to tonight's carnage.

"We have evidence across the street to this other house where the victim ran to and I think that's where he lives," Lt. Tim Carroll says as he points to a house across the street.

Carroll tells us somebody drove Carson to Memorial Hospital and an ambulance later took him to Erlanger.

"What kills me is that he's a good person, he takes care of his animals and pays his rent and his family, it's a shocker," Aaron Perry, a friend of Carson's, says.

A shocker that left Carson in critical condition and Jordan in handcuffs.

Witnesses tell us this neighborhood is notorious for it's problems and they also tell us the man police have in custody has a very shady past.

Detectives brought Jordan, who friends call One Eye, directly past us. We ask him if he could tell us what happened but Jordan walked by silently and eventually

got into the back of a squad car.

"Unfortunately it came to this for him to be taken off the street but you know at least he's off the street now," Howard says.

Update at 9:32 PM - Erlanger says Carson has been upgraded to Fair Condition.
