East Ridge Students Arrested, Potential ''Gang Fight'' Thwarted

Two East Ridge students have been arrested on weapons violations after a threatened "gang fight" at the school.

The Friday afternoon arrests came after School Resource Officers received information about a possible planned fight between a students. Additional officers were called to the school as dispatchers reported a "large group of students headed for the soccer field."

Officers and school administrators delayed the dismissal of the middle school to allow criminal investigators time to complete their investigation.

Investigators detained two students and recovered a knife and a set of brass knuckles.

According to police spokesperson Erik Hopkins, there are indications that this incident is gang related by a few students.

The unidentified juvenile suspects were taken to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center.
