Five children were home when deputies arrested a Rhea County couple on charges of operating an active meth lab. Because children were present, deputies plan to soon file additional charges against the couple.
Deputies made the arrest last Wednesday. It happened at a home on Gossett Lane in Dayton. The couple is behind bars now on several meth charges.
Neighbor Barry Alexander says he saw the arrest of his neighbors coming.
"She was an addict, she couldn't help herself, she didn't want help," says neighbor Barry Alexander.
Deputies arrested Misty Angel and her boyfriend John Kincannon after busting them running an active meth lab inside their Rhea County home.
"I can recall times when there wasn't enough food because her and her previous boyfriend needed their meth. Evidently you've got to have it," says neighbor Barry Alexander.
We're told five children (aged 4 to 15) were inside the home when they made the arrest. Four of them were Misty's children - the other was a family friend.
"I've got 7 kids of my own and I cannot even imagine submitting my kids to that kind of danger," says neighbor Gerald Akina.
After several complaints from neighbors about meth activities at the home - investigators checked it out - and sure enough found a lot of evidence.
"Inside the home, several coffee filters used, three or four shake bottles, a few of them were active, a few were empty. We found funnels and drano," says Detective Rocky Potter.
Angel admitted to deputies she made meth at the home about 6 times.
"She had just gotten her children back about 2 months ago and now she's just lost them again. I think this is the third time that the D.C.S. have removed them," says Detective Potter.
Neighbor Barry Alexander says he was hoping the couple would get help before it came to this.
"You always hope that she would get over or get some help or something" says Alexander.
All four children are now staying with family. Deputies say they plan to charge the couple with 4 counts each of reckless endangerment of a child.
Deputies also told us John Kincannon was indicted a few months ago on a child rape charge.
