Body Found in Physician's Office Parking Lot
UPDATE/July 3rd: Police have identified the victim as 49-year-old Wesley Eaves.

Chattanooga police are investigating a homicide at Delawanna Terrace, off of Pineville Road after the body was discovered Friday morning.

Chattanooga Police Public Information Officer Tim McFarland confirms to NewsChannel9 that an employee found the body in the parking lot of a building leased to a Chattanooga physician for his employees to use.

According to Capt. David Woosley, an employee of the physician's office found the man's body around 6:45 a.m. His identity has not been released, pending notification of his family.

When ATI physical therapist Trinity Chuba came to work nearby, she said it was alarming to see crime tape up the hill.

"I was nervous about it, but there's not much you can do. Things happen in this day and age and with all of the other things going on this week, it's not that it was expected, but it's alarming," said Chuba.

While they there is obviously "foul play" involved, police said they don't know a specific cause of death. An ambulance took the body to the Hamilton County Medical Examiner's officer for evaluation. Woosley said they aren't sure if the man was killed in this parking lot or if his body was dumped here.

"It's not sitting out in the middle of Pineville Road or in the middle of Signal Mountain Road. So, there was an effort to hide the body but not a real intense effort," said Capt. David Woosley, of Chattanooga police.  "Does this affect the way that everyone lives in their neighborhood every day? Well cetainly it does. It brings an element of unrest."

McFarland said they "found no indications that this homicide is in any way related to the other acts of violence in recent days."

This is the third homicide in 48 hours, and police said it's been a difficult week.

"One of our captains put together a plan to reach out to community members and do some community policing to help everyone feel safe in their neighborhoods," said Chief Fred Fletcher, of Chattanooga police.

Police ask anyone with information regarding this crime to please call 423-698-2525.
