Burglary Leads to Police Chase
A police chase ensues after attempted break-in.
It was a scary scene outside on Wilkins Drive on Friday afternoon. Around 1:45 dispatchers received a frantic 911 call. A 21 year old girl hid in her basement in fear, while just outside police say two men were attempting to break-in her home.
Neighbors say a young caller set off the panic alarm, which caused one of the suspects to flee on foot and the other to take off in an SUV. "Abby of course called her mother on her cell phone to tell her what was happening. She told Abby to take the pistol and go to the basement," says Troy Dobson.
A deputy eventually forced one of the suspects off of the roadway, but McMinn County deputies are still searching for a second suspect.
Robert Eaves was booked into the justice center on charges of failure to appear, 2 counts of aggravated burglary, attempted aggravated burglary, 2 counts of theft over 1,000, felony evading arrest, driving on a revoked license, 5th offense DUI, and Felony Vandalism.
He is also being held on 3 warrants from Monroe County.
