CARTA Wants Park and Ride Plan for Enterprise South Workers
In a few months, workers at Enterprise South may be able to park their cars and enjoy air conditioned comfort traveling to and from work.
That's because CARTA has been awarded a grant to begin a park-and-ride program, designed to ease congestion into one of the busiest areas in Southeast Tennessee.
The agency says it looked at 12 different businesses at Enterprise South, including Amazon and V-W, the two largest, and studied the zip codes of all the employees.
CARTA was able to identify congestion areas and will soon begin looking at designing ways for people to park their cars and use public transportation to the business park.
"We need to talk to the folks to make sure we can get some buy-in from the people that are already using their cars to get to and from, get them to understand waht a great choice this is, how much money they can save. They can get tax breaks, there's a whole myriard of things that they can take advantage of," said CARTA Executive Director Lisa Maragnano.
Maragnano says the process has now begun to get the funding from the grant CARTA has been awarded.
