Chattanooga City Budget
The first Vote on Chattanooga's new capital budget passes at City Council.
The council approved the first vote Tuesday night.
Included in the budget proposal was repairs to Walnut Street Bridge and the Renaissance Park Pedestrian Bridge as well as funding for a public park at the former Bell School site in Alton Park.
The site is larger than 10 acres and a million dollars has been allocated for the project.
"Well it's going to be the biggest park outside of Coolidge, Renaissance park, and river view park it will be bigger than all of the other neighborhood parks and it's going to have all kinds of equipment," Chris Anderson, City Councilman, said. "Over the next six months ... We're gonna lead the citizen lead process to determine what's going to go there and what the people really want."
Road improvements are also included in the new budget.
