Chattanooga Man Accused of Abusing Two Children
A Chattanooga man is behind bars, charged with abusing two children, a 3-year-old and a 5-year-old.
Rhasean Lowry, 34, is facing criminal charges that include child abuse and assault.
The investigation began when Lowry brought the children to Parkridge Emergency Room Tuesday evening. The 3-year-old was unconscious.
Lowry told investigators that the child fell down some stairs but doctors said the child's injuries were not consistent with a fall.
Investigators said the abuse occurred at a local hotel, and they found surveillance video that included Lowry carrying a child's "limp body" from a room. They said it took Lowry more than 30 minutes to reach the hospital and then he left both children in the car while he walked inside to seek help.
During questioning investigators said the 5-year-old said he was abused over a
two-week period and "had bruises consistent with the abuse reported."
They said during questioning Lowry denied any abuse but "the details of his story were not consistent" and he was arrested.
