Child Sent to Kindergarten With Mom's Pot in Shoe
A five-year-old boy finds his mother's marijuana in his shoe at school. That's according to Whitfield County Sheriff Scott Chitwood. He says on Wednesday, his officers responded to Dug Gap Elementary School. That's where a student says he felt something unusual in his shoe.
He took off the shoe and found a small plastic bag containing marijuana. The child took the bag to his teacher and told the teacher that he knew he wasn't supposed to have it and it's only for grown-ups.
The teacher told school administrators who called police. Authorities say the marijuana belonged to his mother and must have fallen into the child's shoe while she was getting him ready for school.
24-year-old Maria Franchesca Gordon is charged with possession of marijuana and reckless conduct. The Department of Family and Children Services was also contacted and the boy is now staying with a relative.
