Deadly Start to Labor Day Weekend in Meigs County
A deadly start to the Labor Day holiday weekend.
A spokesman with the Tennessee Highway Patrol says a woman was killed in 2 vehicle crash in Meigs County. This happened Friday afternoon around 3.
According to the THP a vehicle was on Highway 58 waiting to make a left turn. That's when another vehicle came up behind it and had to swerve to avoid rear-ending it and crashed into an oncoming car.
The THP says the victim, 42 year old Tammy Whitted of Ten Mile, was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver of that vehicle, 44-year-old Ronald Whitted, was injured. So was the driver of the other vehicle, Klaresha Cross. There were two children in Cross' vehicle and were not hurt.
A Meigs County dispatcher said two people were airlifted to a hospital in Knoxville.
