Deputy Shoots Man in Jackson County
A Bryant, Alabama man is recovering at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga after Jackson County deputies shot him Thursday night.
The incident happened at 1541 County Road 291 in Bryant.
Detectives tell us they found two women - a mother and daughter - in the yard of the residence, hiding behind a truck. While deputies were talking to the women, they say 44-year-old Jerry David Nunley walked out of the house with a weapon in each hand.
Deputies ordered Nunley to drop the weapons. They say Nunley ignored the order, and instead approached the deputies, threatening to kill them.
Deputies say Nunley raised one of the weapons, and one of the deputies opened fire.
Investigators have not identified the deputy who opened fire, or have said where Nunley was hit. A helicopter took Nunley to Erlanger where he remained on Friday.
The Alabama Bureau of Investigation is now working the case.
