Fire Destroys $300,000 Home in Harrison Area
Fire destroyed a home on Woodland Bay Dr. off of Hwy. 58 early Monday morning.
It happened around 4:30 am. Firefighters with the Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department said the house was fully involved in flame when they arrived. The family had escaped their burning home safely. Firefighters said all they could do was to prevent the fire from spreading to the adjacent houses.
According to Highway 58 VFD Deputy Chief Stan Hardy homeowner Rosella Beckman and her family awoke to the smell of smoke and immediately got outside. Beckman said they had a fire going in the fireplace before going to bed. However the official cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriffs Office.
The house is a total loss with damages estimated at $300,000. The Beckman family will be staying with family members.
