A man crashes into a Dalton car dealership colliding with seven different vehicles Tuesday afternoon. The man died from his injuries Wednesday afternoon.
Five mangled cars are now parked behind Pye Nissan of Dalton. Just after 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, witnesses say first responders and police told them an elderly driver lost control of his van while suffering from a stroke. After crashing into another car, both vehicles cut across a busy intersection at Walnut Avenue.
Joey Kelley, the Executive Manager at Pye Nissan, tells us "The two cars that was involved in the accident crossed four or five lanes of traffic and cars were going east to west and somehow they managed to miss all that."
Witnesses say the elderly driver barreled into the Pye Nissan parking lot at 50 miles per hour. "If customers had been there or if he hadn't heard the impact, he would've been caught in the middle of the accident. One piled into the next one and that was the only thing that stopped him until he got to the fifth car," says Kelley.
Inside the building, Kelley heard the impact and ran outside to find the elderly man inside the van, unresponsive. After the driver was taken to the hospital all that remained were these five mangled Nissans. "We're still thankful that nobody got hurt. We can replace the cars," adds Kelley.
