McMinn Murder Suspect Appears in Court
A man appeared in court today in McMinn County in connection with the death of his wife.
Police in Athens, Tennessee, have charged Adrian Hall with second-degree murder.
Hall told police he accidentally cut his wife Janie while trying to kill a skunk he found in the tent they were living in.
Family members say the couple was homeless.
Investigators say they found a bloody knife under the couple's air mattress in the tent, but no evidence of a skunk.
We spoke to Adrian's parents who say he suffered from mental health problems and that Janie also had medical problems.
The Halls say Adrian and Janie met in a mental health institution.
They also say Adrian was taken off his meds months ago.
The Halls say they don't believe he intenionally hurt Janie, and they hope prosecutors will take his psychological problems into consideration.
